My name is Nancy Jean (formerly Nancy Cawley) and this blog is mostly about social media and healthcare, with a few miscellaneous entries thrown in. I’m still getting used to writing under my own name and discovering my voice rather than ghostwriting, but I hope readers will bear with me and enjoy topics that I think are important to share. I’m learning something in the world of social media every day, and I hope we can all share thoughts here, so I welcome comments.
About me: I am a communications and media relations pro with over 25 years of experience in the health care industry (yes, showing my age here!). For nearly 9 years, I was the senior media relations officer for Rhode Island Hospital, part of the Lifespan health system in Rhode Island. In 2009, my role transitioned over to social media, and I launched the system’s social media efforts, and now manage it for five hospitals and a women’s medicine practice as its senior social media strategist.
In my personal time, I’m a mom to two awesome rescue dogs: Phoebe, my “mostly Golden Retriever” (we have no idea what the rest of her is), rescued from Alabama in 2009. Then there’s our new addition, Blue (get it, Blue Jean!), a “mostly Lab” who was rescued from our local shelter. That’s Blue laying on top of his sister. When the dogs allow it, I’m an avid reader, I love music and the beach and I’m a diehard Red Sox fan. I’m also the wife of a completely non-techie husband who purchased his FIRST cell phone, a Tracphone (!) in June 2015. Go figure!
I appreciate you taking the time to read this blog and I encourage lots of comments! It’s all part of my learning process.
